Spring Football

Spring. A season of change when the flowers bloom and college football starts. Change in deed is what The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team needs. After mediocre years head coach Bill Calahan was fired along with Athletic Director Steve Pederson after the team's 5-7 season. Now Bo Pelini takes over the team trying to get it back to where it once was as a national power. He brings along several new assistant coaches and a new energy.

Preview

Quarterback- Joe Ganz is the odds on favorite having thrown for over 1000 yards in only 3 starts. The only other player that has got a snap for the Huskers is Beau Davis.

I-Back- Marlon Luckyis the leading returning rusher for the Huskers. Quentin Castille & Roy Helu also figure to get playing time.

Wide Reciever-The Huskers lost their best reciever Maurice Purify, but they still return 3 of their top 5 pass catchers. Menelik Holt coauld be the player to replace Purify in jump-ball situations.

Offensive Line-This might be the position Nebraska has the most depth at. Nebraska returns 7 players with playing experience. That would be even more, but Andy Christianson's future is in doubt because of legal issues.

Defensive Line- All four starters return from last years team and that could get even better with possibility that 5-Star Lincoln Southwest product Baker Steinkuhler could play here (He might be and O-Lineman).

Linebacker-All of the starters graduated last year, and Phillip Dillard is probably the best of the backers. Cody Glenn has also moved to Linebacker from I-Back this spring and could play a lot.

Defensive Backs-Anthony Blue started at corner late in the season but is out this spring with a knee injury. Larry Asante also returns.
